Useful crafts on upcoming shows

Information on making a multiple compartment wallet, embellishing a
wardrobe, and making a tulip lampshade will be the featured topics on
“Creative Living” noon Tuesday and 2 p.m. Saturday.

Sewing expert and author Patsy Shields will show a technique for
making a wallet sewn with four separate compartments for the world
traveler or the coupon clipper. It uses a basic utility stitch,
beautiful fabrics and multiple zippers. She represents Sulky of America
and lives in Sellersburg, Ind.

Sewing expert Barbara Crawford of Crawford Designs will show how to
create a new wardrobe using the old one in the closet as the base and
going beyond embellishing to update the pieces. She’s from Gladstone,

Mary Maxwell, artist, designer and owner of Heart Enterprise in
Roseville, Calif., will demonstrate how to make a tulip lampshade with
silk rosettes for accent. She’ll also explain how to dye the fabric to
get just the right color for your lamp.
