SAN ANTONIO — Sophomore Cat Clay’s career-best 28 points led four Eastern New Mexico players in double figures and the Zias beat Texas A&M-International 89-75 Wednesday in St. Mary’s New Year’s Classic.
The Zias (8-6) managed a split in the two-day event after losing to the host Rattlers 65-52 on Tuesday.
Clay went 10-for-22 from the floor, hitting five of ENMU’s seven 3-pointers, and also grabbed eight rebounds. Freshman reserves Kassie Daugherty and Celeste Belizario added 12 and 11 points, respectively, off the bench, while center Kara Bible scored 10 points.
ENMU collected 27 assists, including 13 by sophomore point guard Tori Northcutt of Clovis, and outrebounded the Dustdevils 62-40.
