The holidays are over. Tearful goodbyes are said. The house is strangely quiet.
The pride I feel for our sons and the gratitude I feel for God is overwhelming. The dream that began so long ago in my heart has now become a reality. The boys are spiritual leaders in their own homes who love and cherish their wives and children.
My children are never far away in my heart or prayers, for there is no distance in the spirit … no distance in love.
Our oldest granddaughter will soon have her doctorate. Another granddaughter will be going to Spain on an international scholarship. Her sister, a junior at Amarillo High, volunteers her extra time between Meals on Wheels, hospice, and rest homes.
Our three wonderful grandsons greet me with hugs of “I love you.” Lest you think I am a bragging Mawmaw, I must say it all comes from a loving God and love is forever!
I think, “Lord, is that how you love me? The love I feel for my children and grandchildren, is that how you love me?” And the thought comes back, “Yes, my child, and yet much more than that!”
God gave his only Son for mankind to save them from total destruction. “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?” (Romans 8:35 NIV).
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that nether death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:37-39).
These Scriptures cover any situation the child of God may encounter, proving the love of God.
One of my greatest blessings in my life is my husband. He tells me day and night how much he loves me. Even while I am sleeping, I can hear that gentle whisper through the night, “I love you.” He has given me enough love to last until Jesus comes yet the love of Jesus is so much greater than any earthly love we could ever know. He has made the supreme sacrifice for all of us. We have been bought with a very great price. He is ever making intercession for you and me at the Father’s right hand.
Maybe you feel unloved by God but remember, God knows every hair on your head. He knows every breath you take. He knows every step. He knows every fault, every sin, every weakness, and he loves you anyway.
God knows the inner recesses of your being. He formed you and planned for you to be born. He knew you might stumble and fall, but he loves you anyway.
He delights in you. He joys over you with singing. You are precious in his sight. You are unique, the only pattern. He loves you like you are.
You don’t have to be someone you aren’t. You don’t have to keep up a false front. You don’t have to try to impress people. You don’t have to seek their approval. You are just you, because God loves you just like you are.
Your God will never leave you. He will never allow your feet to stumble. You can soar with him in heavenly places, living in the secret place and dwelling under the shadow of the Almighty, who is your refuge, your fortress, your redeemer.
God gave his only Son to die for you. His precious blood covers you and makes you beautiful!
God’s love is forever!
