Police say DWI lower this year

Roosevelt County law enforcement officers say they see few incidents of DWI and other violations of alcohol-related laws New Year’s Eve.

Detective David Meeks of the Portales Police Department said city police handled one DWI case this New Year’s Eve compared to two last year.

Roosevelt County Sheriff Darren Hooker said reported no DWIs.

Hooker attributed the low amounts of DWI to increased patrols and more advertising.
