Teacher’s group plans program

Local members of the Phi Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a teacher organization, is preparing for the Theta State president’s visit at 5:15 p.m. Monday at the Portales High School. Theta State President Nadyne Gartman visits each chapter during her two-year term. Her visit will include information about scholarships, fellowships and learning opportunities for female teachers.

Sherel Whited, social worker for Portales schools and former county manager for the Children, Youth, and Families Department, is set to present an informative program about using sand trays with children. The non-threatening activity aims to allow students to express some of the challenges they face and explore their feelings as they work for solutions.
