March 1, 2009 On the shelves/Library events

Monday is Dr. Seuss’ birthday and the Portales Public Library is set to participate in Read Across America to celebrate.

From noon to 2:30 p.m., we will have guests read to visiting elementary school classes. At 4:30 p.m., a birthday party, complete with a story, games and cake, is scheduled.

Preschool Storytime meets at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday and at 6 p.m. Thursday. This week’s storytime theme is “Going on a Lion Hunt.” Join us for stories and songs, and then make a lion puppet.

Every Friday at 4 p.m., it is time for To Be Continued…, a chapter book read-aloud club. This month we are reading “No Talking” by Andrew Clements, one of the nominees for the Land of Enchantment Awards.

All programs are free and open to the public.
