Bailey County woman attacked in home

A 30-year-old Bailey County woman is in a Lubbock hospital recovering from multiple stab wounds after a man invaded her home and attacked her while she slept Friday morning.

Bailey County Sheriff Richard Wills said Gloria Lisa Estrada was sleeping in her home just north of Enochs on Highway 214, when an unidentified male broke in through a window and attacked her.

Deputies were called to the residence just after 2 a.m. (CDT).

Estrada described her attacker as a Hispanic male age 30 to 40 and around 5-feet-7-inches tall with a skinny build. The woman reported he had an unshaven scruffy face, hair that was short on top and long on the sides, bushy eyebrows and was wearing blue jeans and a denim jacket.

She also reported he smelled “like a dairy worker or a feed lot worker,” Wills said.

Estrada was listed in good condition at Covenant Medical Center Friday night.

Law enforcement has not determined if anything was stolen from the
residence or what the motive might have been for the break-in and
attack, Wills said.

The incident is uncharacteristic for the rural area, he said, explaining, “This is pretty weird for out where we’re talking about.”

Enochs is about 40 miles south of Muleshoe.
