Roosevelt County almost saw oil production within its borders when Magnolia Petroleum Company found petroleum within 1.7 miles of Roosevelt County, south of Milnesand. The test was made after a fire erupted during a drill stem test the day before. The well produced 35 barrels of 47-gravity oil within the first hour and was producing gas at the rate of almost 1.5 million cubic feet per 24 hours.
