College graduations feature elected officials

A pair of New Mexico’s elected officials are in eastern New Mexico
the next two weekends as keynote speakers for area college graduations.

Lt. Gov. Diane Denish is the commencement speaker at the Clovis
Community College graduation, set for 6 p.m. Friday at the Clovis Civic
Center.

There are 123 students eligible for graduation — 84 associate
degrees and 39 vocational-technical certificate earners — according to
a spring list approved by the CCC’s board of trustees.

The college held its nurse-pinning ceremony Wednesday. The school pinned 24 practical nurses and 22 registered nurses.

State Sen. Gay Kernan, R-Hobbs, is the keynote speaker in Portales on May 16 for Eastern New Mexico University.

The college, which has 322 candidates for graduation, will hold
services 10 a.m. at Greyhound Arena. A commencement reception will
follow graduation.

Honors graduates are invited to an honors convocation 7:30 a.m. May 16 at the Campus Union Building.

A pinning ceremony will be held 6 p.m. May 14 in Becky Sharp Auditorium for graduating nurses.
