Shenandoah to play at Curry County Events Center

Grammy award winning country band Shenandoah is playing the Curry County Events Center 7 p.m. Saturday.

The band began with drummer Mike McGuire and guitarist Jim Seales in a house in Muscle Shoals, Ala. in 1984. The band grew to five members over the next year.

Shenandoah is best known for it’s Grammy winning song “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart.” Other hits include, “I Want to Be Loved Like That” and “Next to You, Next to Me.”

Currently, the band is made up of Jimmy Yeary, lead vocalist; Jim Seales, lead guitar; Mike McGuire, drums; Mike Folsom, bass guitar; and Stan Munsey, keyboards.

Shenandoah has released seventeen albums. Two are certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The band has also charted twenty-six singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.
