County fair revenues down

The Roosevelt County Fair brought in about $37,650 in gate receipts this year, down from $45,130 last year, according to fair board Secretary Sharon King.

Fair board President Sheila Hays has attributed the decrease to people spending less money because of the economic downturn.

King said the money is used for a variety of things, including advertising, entertainment, buckles that don’t have sponsors, temporary employees and fly control.
