The Portales News-Tribune reported that performances by a professional rodeo clown and a world famous trick roper would highlight performances of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association rodeo Oct. 6-8. J.W. Stroker, famed for his “black light” trick roping exhibition, was to be featured at all three performances of the rodeo. A professional rodeo clown, Larry McKinney, was to entertain rodeo goers throughout each of the three performances and be on hand for the bull riding.
