Altrusa

Altrusa Int’l. Inc. of Portales met on Monday, Sept. 28th in the Central Office Annex on Abilene.

President Nancy Legleiter presided over the business meeting and conducted the opening ceremonies.

The minutes from the previous meeting were dispensed with. There were 22 members and 14 guests present.

Secret pals were thanked, and members who helped with the home tour were thanked. Vaunceil Turnbough asked members to bring items to the October meetings for Hartley House.

Gaynelle Thomas moved that the club meet at the Central Office Annex for the remainder of the year with meal prices to be $7.50. The motion was seconded, and it passed.

New yearbooks were distributed.

Following the business meeting, Sheryl Borden introduced Jane Thompson, who talked about her book: “Choosing Happiness After Divorce: A Woman’s 52 Week Guide.”

RGH Auxiliary

The Roosevelt General Hospital Auxiliary met Sept. 19 for the General Meeting and Luncheon in the conference room. The tasty luncheon was provided by the cafeteria staff for the 29 members attending.

Sid Phillips, president, presided over the meeting. Wanda Martinez, treasurer, submitted the summer expenditures as: Food cart for RGH $1,565.75; Flowers for the Heartland planter $50; Sign $7,000; Clock for RGH foyer $25.47; Scholarships $787.52 for a total $9,428.74.

Disposal of the pink chairs in the old hospital was discussed. A request for an additional massage chair for Therapy was made. Also a request concerning the purchase of a Pro Time PT/INR Monitor for reading. Coumadin in the blood was addressed.

Phillips resented hours awards to Pat Wood for 9,500 hours and Wanda Martinez for 7,000 hours.
