Hounds beat Adams State

Freedom New Mexico

ALAMOSA, Colo. — Junior forward Emerson Rodrigues scored a pair of second-half goals and Eastern New Mexico University broke away for a 3-0 victory over winless Adams State on Saturday in men’s soccer.

The Greyhounds (8-3-2) struggled for most of the first half before taking a 1-0 lead late in the period when freshman midfielder Kal Herbert chipped a shot over Grizzlies goalkeeper Jarod Thomas with an assist from freshman midfielder Diego Santos.

Rodrigues scored twice early in the second half, giving him a team-leading eight goals for the season. Both scores came from inside the box off assists from junior midfielder Edgar Bear.

Clovis junior Josh Bussen collected the shutout, making three stops in net against the Grizzlies.

The Hounds begin a four-match homestand on Tuesday, taking on Texas-Permian Basin in a 4 p.m. start at the ENMU pitch.
