• Professor of Special Education Michael F. Shaughnessy has been asked to serve as editor-in-chief of the SENG Newsletter. SENG is an abbreviation for Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted. He will assume the post Nov. 1.

• The Zeta-Pi Chapter of the history national honors fraternity Phi Alph Theta welcomes two new members this semester: Brittany Chrisman and Chris Acuff.

• The Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees has named ENMU graduate Rick E. Rodriguez as the assistant superintendent of human resources.

• In early 2010 Haffner Press will publish Jack Williamson’s “With Folded Hands … and Searching Mind: The Collected Stories of Jack Williamson, Volume 7.” Maestro Silverberg wrote the introduction to this offering of classics and rarities, including “. . . And Searching Mind,” the original story that Jack Williamson re-wrote into The Humanoids.
