Press Release: Jail guard and wife involved in drug case

(Roosevelt County, NM) – On Thursday December 31, 2009, Members of the Region V Drug Task Force made contact with Jesseka Martinez, DOB: 01-14-74, at her residence in the 1700 block of New Mexico Highway 236 following a lengthy undercover operation. In October an undercover agent with the Task Force purchased marijuana through Mrs. Martinez and several other subjects in Roosevelt County. During the operation Mrs. Martinez stated her husband, identified as Larry Martinez, DOB: 02-26-73, was a guard in the Roosevelt County Detention Center and was stealing prescription medication from the Detention Center. While agents were at the residence Mrs. Martinez admitted to giving away Xanax that her husband stole from the detention center. A search of the residence revealed additional prescription medications as well as marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mrs. Martinez was later arrested for distribution of marijuana and conspiracy. Mr. Martinez was later interviewed and admitted to taking Xanax from the detention center and giving them to his wife. Mr. Martinez was later given an Administrative Notice of Termination. Additional felony charges are pending on both Mrs. Martinez and Mr. Martinez.
