CANNON AIR FORCE BASE — Medical personnel from Cannon Air Force Base’s 27th Special Medical Group and 27th Special Operations Support Squadron deployed Sunday to help with earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.

Sunday’s deployment from the eastern New Mexico base is in addition to two MC-130W Combat Spear aircraft Cannon sent Wednesday from its 73rd Special Operations Squadron.

Those aircraft have been delivering personnel, medical supplies, food, water and fuel to support the international aid efforts in Haiti.

Nobody knows how many died in Tuesday’s quake. Haiti’s government has already recovered 20,000 bodies — not counting those recovered by independent agencies or relatives themselves, Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive told The Associated Press.
