Entries sought for ENMU digital art show

The Eastern New Mexico University Department of Arts will be displaying a national art show, and the deadline for entries is fast approaching.

The exhibit will be on display in September at the Runnels Gallery of the Golden Library, with a July 30 entry deadline.

The exhibit, “Axium of Gesture,” is a digital art show anyone can enter, ENMU Department of Art Secretary Bryan Hahn said.

According to a release from the university, exhibits should, “explore the artistic interpretation of human movement and how people move through time and space.”

Hahn said artists across the country are being asked to enter pieces that show their “interpretation of human movement in a digital medium.” Hahn said entries can be in the form of digital photography, graphic design, animation, or other digital methods.

“These are people from all over the country,” Hahn said, “so there’s definitely going to be a lot of different styles, maybe influenced by the area in which they live.”

The show is open to the public, and costs $30 to enter. Hahn said a portion of entry fees will go toward cash prizes, so a bigger show will have a bigger chance to benefit artists.

“Axium of Gesture” will be on display Sept. 3-29. Entries will be judged by a five-member panel, consisting of ENMU faculty from film, animation, communication, graphic design and dance, with awards given for top three places and honorable mentions.
