No decision yet on LSC
Eastern New Mexico University President Steven Gamble on Thursday said school officials still don’t know the future of the Lone Star Conference.
Gamble said last month the LSC is “unraveling before our eyes” because membership fees have increased from $15,000 to $50,000 in three years.
Five Oklahoma schools in the LSC are considering moves, according to published reports, and Gamble has said ENMU might follow their lead.
But Gamble said his first choice is to remain in the LSC with the Oklahoma schools.
“We’re still waiting to see what the Oklahoma schools finally do,” he said. “I think they are still talking over their options as well. There are some rumors out there that some teams would stay for next year, but not (in 2011).”
