Investigators unable to ID victim

Roosevelt County Sheriff’s investigators are still working to learn more about the victim of a Wednesday shooting in Dora.

Sheriff Darren Hooker said investigators know the man’s name, however they are not making the information public because they haven’t been able to fully identify him.

“We don’t know a whole lot about him or where he’s from,” Hooker said Saturday.

The man was shot in the head during an altercation in the yard of a residence at 506 Avenue D.

Hooker said the man remains in serious condition at a Lubbock hospital and his prognosis is not certain at this point.

Investigators have said witnesses reported the man threatened another man and his wife with an unknown weapon during a dispute and the husband grabbed a gun his wife was holding and fired it at him, striking him in the head.

No one has been charged in connection with the shooting.

Hooker said the investigation is ongoing and interviews are still being conducted in the case.
