Remembering heroes

At Saturday’s game against Midwestern State, the Eastern New Mexico University athletic department will take a moment for players, coaches, administrators and spectators to remember servicemen and their families who were victims of Sept. 11, 2001.

Rockin’ bikes

Get your motor running to High Plains Harley-Davidson, 4400 Mabry Dr. , 9 a.m. Friday for the annual Rockin’ Motorcycle Rally.

It’s all part of the Clovis Music Festival, which also features Starship and the Blackwater Band 7 p.m. today at the Curry County Events Center.

Today in history

On this day in 1971, prisoners riot and seize control of the maximum-security Attica Correctional Facility near Buffalo, New York.

Later that day, state police retook most of the prison, but 1,281 convicts occupied an exercise field called D Yard, where they held 39 prison guards and employees hostage for four days.
