We know change is hard. But after more than a decade of nearly the same Sunday comics lineup, we believe it is time to introduce some new features.
Beginning Sunday, old standards such as Peanuts, Doonesbury, Dennis the Menace and others will be replaced by characters and storylines we think are more relevant to the 21st century and our readers’ daily lives.
Among those joining the Sunday stable are Pickles, Baby Blues, In the Bleachers and Baldo — comics many of you may already know. Then there are some upstart newcomers such as Future Shock, Tundra and Dustin.
Overall, we are adding features, from 15 items now to 18 a week from today. The additions include a Sudoku puzzle and games for children.
We hope you like the changes, though we remember that the late Woodrow Wilson, our 28th president, once said, “If you want to make enemies, try to change something.”
But if nothing ever changed, just remember there also would be no butterflies.
