Monday morning briefing: Classes canceled, a can of nuts and a prize president

Good morning and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Monday briefing.

No school

Classes at Eastern New Mexico University are canceled today and tomorrow.
The university will remain open for regular business hours.

Golden Library, the Campus Bookstore, UCC, Campus Crossroads and Ground Zero will observe abbreviated schedules.

On this day in 2002, former President Jimmy Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize “for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development.”

Carter, a peanut farmer from Georgia, served one term as U.S. president between 1977 and 1981.
