Santa Cop toy drive set for Saturday

PNT staff

The first toy drive of the year for Operation: Santa Cop is set for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Portales Wal-Mart.

Portales Police Department is collecting new toys and gifts for Roosevelt County youth ages birth to 18. The toys need to be unwrapped so department staff can see that they’re appropriate, sort them and match them to families.

Police Chief Jeff Gill said recently that the department expects to serve more than 1,000 children this year.

The next Santa Cop toy drive is 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 4 at Wal-Mart.
