Today in history
On this day in 2009 after more than 70 years as the world’s largest automaker, General Motors (GM) officially loses the title to Toyota.
However, the news wasn’t all rosy for the Japanese auto giant, which later in 2009 posted its first-ever loss as a public company.
Here’s the rest of the story:
Today — Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s. West winds 10 to 20 mph shifting to the north in the afternoon.
Tonight — Mostly clear. Lows in the lower to mid 20s.
