My turn: Count on columnists to entertain

As I sat yesterday reading three different columns written by three different co-workers, I realized that since becoming a journalist, one of my favorite past times has become reading columns. I must admit, before starting this job, I had not paid much attention to columns in the newspaper.

I have always been more interested in national and world news, but since taking up column reading, I realized it is one of my favorite forms of entertainment.

It doesn’t really get more entertaining than funny anecdotes and unique first person perspective. If you rarely pay attention to them, I recommend beginning because everyone should start the day with a smile.

After the lull from the holidays there are finally lots of events coming our way this weekend. So get ready.

Tonight is karaoke night at Eastern New Mexico University. Then on Saturday, there are ENMU basketball games.

Also tonight, a local band, Travis Erwin and the Roadside Business, will be performing at Mark’s Restaurant.

And don’t forget, on Tuesday, there is the Clovis Community College event, Fishtank Ensemble, at 7 p.m. at the Clovis Civic Center.
