Reader-submitted content: Elida student to go on youth tour

Roosevelt County Rural Telephone Cooperative recently selected Randy Jasso of Elida High School as the winner of the 2011 Foundation for Rural Service Youth Tour to be held June 4-8 in Washington, D.C. Randy is the son of Emiliano Jasso Jr. and Carmina Jasso.

Each year, in collaboration with National Telecommunications Cooperative Association member companies, Foundation for Rural Service brings rural students from across the United States to Washington, D.C. for a four-day tour of some of the most historical sites in the nation. While there, students also learn about the telecommunications industry, as well as the regulatory and legislative processes. Educational sessions on these topics are greatly enhanced by site visits to the U.S. Capitol and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in addition to meetings with industry leaders and members of Congress.
