Roosevelt County Extension Association, an organization of four Extension Clubs in Roosevelt County, enjoyed a County Cultural Arts Show and luncheon on April 2.
Approximately 45 ladies attended the luncheon hosted by Bethel Extension club and viewed the Cultural Arts Show. The show consisted of 174 entries with 21 Best of Lot Certificates awarded. Dottie Lee won the Judges’ Choice award with her crochet tablecloth and Velma Gardner won People’s Choice with her counted cross stitch bedspread.
Those viewing the event were in awe of all the fine hand work and creative items displayed. All items that placed in this event will be entered in the District IV show and the meeting next week is to be held in Portales.
Women from Lincoln, Otero and Quay counties will be participating in this event.
Nancy Legleiter was honored with the Heart of Extension Award for the county. LaVerne Scheller was honored as Roosevelt County Extension Pioneer Woman. Both of these women will be submitted to the state to be considered for these awards on the state level. They will be awarded in October at the state meeting for Extension Association of New Mexico.
