Samplings of recent calls to Portales law enforcement, according to police records:

Tuesday

• About 7:50 a.m., an officer was sent to the 900 block of South Avenue B for a report of criminal damage.

When he arrived, he saw a gold Chevrolet sedan with the back window damaged by a brick.

The 23-year-old man who owned the car estimated the value of the window at $500.

The case is inactive due to lack of suspects and evidence.

• An officer was dispatched to the 2200 block of Boxwood Street about 8:15 a.m. in reference to a burglary report.

The officer spoke with a 25-year-old contractor who had a large trailer filled with tools and equipment parked behind the residence. The contractor said during the night, someone cut the side handle to his trailer and removed tools.

The officer couldn’t find footprints because of high winds and sandy ground.

There was no suspect information, and the officer was awaiting an inventory of missing items.
