Recent calls to Portales law enforcement, according to police records:

Wednesday

• About 3 p.m., an officer responded to a report of a narcotics discovery in the 400 block of North Avenue B.

A 19-year-old man said he and his girlfriend broke up and she asked him to pack her belongings and clean the house out because she was moving. While he was doing so, the man said, he found marijuana and a marijuana pipe in their young son’s room.

The man said he thought it was disturbing that his girlfriend would keep drugs in their son’s room. He said he got rid of the marijuana but saved the pipe to give to officers.

The man took the water pipe wrapped in a plastic bag from the top of his closet. The officer opened the bag, smelled burnt marijuana and saw marijuana residue in the pipe.

The officer booked the pipe into the evidence locker to be destroyed.

• An officer was sent to Rotary Park about 7:05 p.m. in reference to a report of harassment.

A 40-year-old woman said her 36-year-old boyfriend had been harassing her for a couple of months. She said the man told her he would make her life miserable if she didn’t sleep with him that night.

The woman said her boyfriend had been physically violent in the past.

When the officer asked if she had a place to spend the night, the woman said she didn’t. She said her son was visiting and her boyfriend wouldn’t do anything to her while her son was there.

The woman said she was getting a restraining order against her boyfriend, but couldn’t kick him out of the house because his name was on the lease. Her landlord said he would help take the boyfriend’s name off the lease once she had the restraining order.

The officer advised the woman to call police right away if she and her boyfriend got into a verbal or physical fight.

• An officer was sent to the 1400 block of South Avenue J about 7:15 p.m. in reference to a battery in progress.

A 43-year-old woman told the officer she was driving around with her 25-year-old friend and her boyfriend when she and her friend got into an argument. The 43-year-old said she wanted to go home, get her belongings and get away from the other woman.

When the 43-year-old was dropped off, she said, the younger woman followed her into the house and began to throw her things on the ground. They started arguing again, and the younger woman threw a brick at her, hitting her left leg.

The older woman said she didn’t want to press charges against the other woman because they were friends. She collected her property and left.

• About 9:30 p.m., an officer went to the Portales Police Department to handle a report of a battery that occurred at a store in the 1600 block of Spruce Street.

A man said his 32-year-old wife was leaving the store when an unknown male drove by and threw water in her face, saying, “Now you’re all wet.” The officer asked to speak with his wife to get her version.

The woman said a vehicle came from behind as she was leaving the store and someone threw liquid in her face. She said the vehicle was dark-colored and had a loud exhaust system.

When the officer asked, the woman said the liquid had no odor.

Her husband said he contacted the store to see if they had video of the incident, and the manager said they probably did but couldn’t release it to him. The officer said she would get the video the next day.

The woman said she wanted to press charges if the person’s face could be identified in the video.
