Clovis Community College is hosting a meet and greet with local author Darynda Jones.
Jones is author of “First Grace on the Right” and won the 2009 Golden Heart award for Best Paranormal Romance.
It’s noon Friday in room 103 of the college’s Allied Health Building.
The rainiest year in Clovis history was 1941 when 46.91 inches fell.
Every month produced rain, with 11.87 inches in May, 8.57 inches in June and 6.79 inches in September.
As a comparison, the National Weather Service reports that Clovis has received less than two inches of rain in the last six months.

On this day in 1945, “Il Duce,” Benito Mussolini, and his mistress, Clara Petacci, are shot by Italian partisans who had captured the couple as they attempted to flee to Switzerland.
The two were discovered by partisans and shot, their bodies then transported by truck to Milan, where they were hung upside down and displayed publicly for revilement by the masses.
