My turn: Children’s soccer entertaining chaos

The Relay for Life in Clovis last weekend was an atmosphere filled with excitement. It was fun being able to cover the event, because I always enjoy seeing the enthusiasm of those working for the cause and hearing their personal stories. It’s both moving and fun to write.

I also got to watch 5- and 7-year-olds play soccer and somehow, that sport becomes all the more entertaining and slightly more dangerous when it’s small children playing. I watched kids trip over themselves and each other and perform somersaults and flips onto the grass when trying to kick the ball. It was chaos but worth every minute.

This weekend, there will be a monster truck show in Clovis. Tickets are available at the Clovis McDonald’s for $15, so go see some cars get crushed.

Also this Saturday in Clovis is the Big Brother Big Sister Bowl for Kids’ Sake at Mainline Bowl at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Go be part of a good cause.

Open Farm Day will be at 10 a.m. at Windbrush Alpacas and admission is free. With all of these events and the Eastern New Mexico University graduation, it’s definitely not going to be a boring weekend.
