Blackwater Draw hosting demonstration of prehistoric technology
The Blackwater Draw National Landmark, operated by Eastern New Mexico University, is hosting “Technology of Prehistoric New Mexico” June 25-26 at Blackwater Draw, six miles north of Portales on N.M. 467.
The event is free and open to the public.
Activities include pottery demonstrations, cooking, hide-working, flint-knapping, Yucca sandal-making, atlatl throwing and many other traditional skills.
The site will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the demonstrations running from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
