Thursday morning briefing: The price of lunch, a new house and full rights granted

Good morning and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Thursday briefing.

No free lunch

Clovis Municipal Schools’ students who buy regular priced lunches will see a 5-cent per meal increase beginning in August with the 2011-2012 school year. Prices will increase from $1.75 to $1.80 per meal for elementary school students and from $2 to $2.05 for secondary students.

The price increase will only affect lunch prices.

New house in town

Habitat for Humanity of Roosevelt and Curry Counties has scheduled a groundbreaking ceremony for its next house at 5:30 p.m. today at 2100 Manana Blvd., on the corner of Manana and Tucker Avenue, in Clovis.

It’s open to the public to meet the family who is to receive the house.

Quirky quote of the day

“There’s an old saying about those who forget history. I don’t remember it, but it’s good.” — Stephen Colbert

Kitchen tips

When a cake recipe calls for flouring the baking pan, use a bit of the dry cake mix instead — no white mess on the outside of the cake.
