My turn: No shortage of musical talent in area

Last weekend, I got to enjoy the musical entertainment of local one-man band Something Blue at Mark’s. Musician Brandon Tautfest plays the occasional cover song but most of his music is original songs and I have to say he is a talented songwriter as well as a singer.

There are now some pretty good performers to be seen regularly at Mark’s on the weekends, so keep your eyes open for them. This Saturday will be local band Borrowed Time from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Also, Saturday is the Roosevelt General Hospital Health Fair from 8 a.m. to noon. I have been told the health fair is not just about getting information but is also fun, so it might be something worth checking.

There will also be a flora and fauna presentation 7 p.m. at Oasis State Park and a Veterans of Foreign Wars spaghetti benefit dinner 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at VFW Post 9515 in Portales. Plates will be $10 and there will be live music.

Tonight, check out the Old Timer Days concert at 7 p.m. at the Melrose P.E. Complex for $5 to $7.
