Fantasy candy featured on show

Information on making fantasy candy, natural blood pressure control and cooking with potatoes will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and noon Thursday

Designer Laura Bray will show how to make fantasy candy, and even though it’s not edible, it certainly looks delicious. She will show a project that allows you to enjoy candy without adding weight! Her company is Katydid-Designs ,and she’s from Aliso Viejo, Calif.

Author and chemist Shane Ellison will talk about natural blood pressure control, and he suggests using over-the-counter supplements, such as Hawthorn and magnesium. He’ll give other suggestions based on his book “Over-the-Counter Natural Cures.” Ellison lives in Los Angeles.

Patty Mastracco represents the U.S. Potato Board in Sacramento, Calif., and she’s going to talk about “all things potato.” This includes selection, varieties, storage and cooking basics. Her suggestions are designed to help you put potatoes back in your diet.

Information on cooking “almost from scratch,” making desserts with pistachios and using leftover fabrics to create a rag quilt will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” at noon Tuesday and 2 p.m. Saturday.

Cookbook author Linda Eckhardt will show how to “almost” cook from scratch, based on her popular book titled “Half Scratch Magic.” These ideas and recipes are designed for one- or two-member families. Eckhardt lives in Maplewood, N.J.

Lisa Journagen, spokeswoman for the California Pistachio Commission, will talk about the history, harvesting and availability of pistachios as she demonstrates some delicious dessert recipes featuring pistachios. She’s from Fresno, Calif.

Carol Bell, sewing instructor with Ann Silva’s Bernina Sewing Center in Albuquerque, will show how to make use of leftover fabrics to create a beautiful rag quilt. This project is good for beginners because it’s such an easy process.
