Thursday morning briefing: A miracle run, free stuff and floating like a butterfly

Good morning and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Thursday briefing.

Mother’s miracle

Rebecca Martin reports her daughter, Stacey Davis, 44, of Clovis, finished a half-marathon Saturday in Oklahoma City to help raise money for fighting child abuse.

Martin says the accomplishment is more than admirable, noting Davis, a registered nurse who suffered significant heart damage in 2009.

“She is a miracle,” said Martin. “For her to run in and finish a 13 and half-mile race…she is an inspiration to me.”

Davis ran the Kelsey Briggs Marathon, named in honor of a 2-year-old Oklahoma girl who died of abuse.
