America has endured many hardships but the blessings far outweigh the problems.
We, like the Pilgrims, are strong in courage and faith.
We have so many blessings and I can’t count them all. Aren’t you glad you are alive? Can you hardly contain the joy of knowing God planned your birth? He has a special plan for your life and it’s so wonderful to know he will never leave or forsake his children. The promise of spending eternity with him makes every day living an exciting adventure.
“And you will joyfully give thanks to the Father who has made you able to have a share in all that he has prepared for his people in the kingdom of light” (Colossians 1:12 NCV).
Reverence for God gives life. (Proverbs 19:23) Now that is a big blessing.
Children are great blessings. I love to write on each son’s birthday card: “Thy father and thy mother shall be glad and she that bare thee shall rejoice” (Proverbs 23:25 KJV).
Give thanks for the freedom to live in the greatest land on earth. Freedom has been bought with love and sacrifice and we cannot be thankful enough.
Faith is a wonderful blessing. Faith believes in the ultimate goodness of life. Faith forges straight ahead and sees possibilities in impossible situations. Faith never gives up, but reaches up.
I am thankful for a God whose love makes life precious. Love is the twinkle in my husband’s eye when he holds my hand. Love is hugging my sons as far as I can reach. Love is holding grandchildren.
I love to say “I love you” to the special people in my life. Giving encouragement’s to others increases the love in your heart and that is another blessing.
The apostle Paul shares a wonderful secret in Philippians 4:11: “Not that I speak in respect of want: For I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therefore to be content” (KJV).
Being content with what one has avoids many pitfalls and traps. Remember what God has done for you in the past. You will find that he has done “exceeding abundantly all we could ask for or think of. He is the same God of the present and the future. God’s faithfulness remains steadfast in the storm. In him, your anchor is secure. Contentment and thanksgiving for what we have brings peace.
Please join me in a Thanksgiving poem:
“Thank You Lord for clouds in a blue sky.
Green grass growing with cows nearby.
For the soft nuzzle of a pony’s tender nose.
A sunny day and the beauty of a rose.
Frosty cold air of a long winter’s night.
My husband’s arms as he holds me tight.
For the sweet smell of new mown hay.
A touch of my bed after a long hard day.
Beauty of crops that grow in the ground.
Abundance of grain to spread all around.
“So many blessings,” I’m happy to say.
I want to be thankful and pray every day.
May we be grateful for goodness we see.
Count your blessings and happy you’ll be.”
