The Roosevelt County Rural Telephone Cooperative is offering college scholarships and a trip to Washington D.C., for students living within its service area, according to a press release.

The cooperative recently sent applications to area school counselors for $500 Education Foundation Scholarships. Fourteen scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors meeting requirements.

The cooperative is also sponsoring a trip to Washington D.C. for area high school juniors, June 2-6. Letters and applications have been mailed to area schools. Any student who is a junior in high school, ages 16 or 17 years old at the time of the Youth Tour, can apply.

Only one student on the tour will be awarded an all expenses paid trip.

For both opportunities, the student’s parents must be a member of the cooperative (have telephone service with one of the following prefixes: 276, 274, 273, 253, 477, 478, 675, or 482).

The application deadline for both opportunities is Feb. 3. Applications may be downloaded from their website,
