My turn: Farwell has hidden charm

I drove to Farwell on Saturday to take a few pictures and I decided to wander into the Old Country Store for a photo opportunity. The only word I can think of to describe the store/cafe is charming.

It definitely has a “good old country boy” feel to it with its homemade cinnamon rolls, biscuits, lasagna and more. All the food and the clothing in the shop is made by members of the Koehn family, who own the store.

I had a delightful chat with Cyrus Koehn and left with a delicious banana nut muffin. I have every intention of going back for lunch one Saturday to try some of the lasagna.

I also attended the MainStreet Program’s Wine and Jazz Festival on Saturday at Vines restaurant, which was a delightful and relaxing atmosphere with its fun jazz music and delicious wines. It was a fun event to attend and a good excuse for a girl to get dressed up. Although, I did tell Vines owner Mark Vigil there should be gentlemen on standby next time for those ladies who want to dance.

Tonight marks more entertainment with comedian Carlos Mencia performing at the Clovis Civic Center at 7 p.m., so don’t miss out on some good laughs.
