God has created everything. We wouldn't even try to count his creation. I like to look at the stars God has put in place. In Psalm
147:4-5, I read "He counts the stars and names each one. Our Lord is great and very powerful. There is no limit to what he knows." (NCV)
I heard a story about space scientists that were measuring time back over centuries. They had to have this information to lay out orbits in terms of the life of satellites. The computer came to a stop with a red signal. It had found a day missing in space. The missing time puzzled these scientists until one spoke up about remembering a story from Sunday school in his childhood. The lesson told of the sun standing still for about a day. He got a Bible and found Joshua 10:12-14:
"On the day that the LORD gave up the Amorites to the Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel: 'O sun, stand still over Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon. So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped til the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar.
The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the LORD listened to a man. Surely the LORD was fighting for Israel.'"
Years ago I read in a science book that if we were just 10 percent smaller there would be no life. If our planet were just a few degrees closer to the sun we would burn up. If our planet were further away from the sun, we would freeze. Our axis is exactly tilted so there is equal distribution of the sun, which makes the food chain possible.
God knows each one of us. He knows every hair upon our heads. Realizing the sovereignty of God, difficulties can turn into opportunities for God to show himself strong. All things are possible for you and me because he lives mightily in us.
God is bigger than the illness of a loved one, a misunderstanding, a financial crisis or any other problem that plagues the human soul.
God is the "Great I Am." He never grows weary and his supply never runs out. He is big enough to renew strength and to hear and answer prayers. Nothing can compare to our God. He is unequaled!
Psalm 19:1-4 expresses my thoughts about God's creation: "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech, night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world." (NIV)
The next time you have a problem, step outside and look at the sky. Only God can make such magnificence, yet he has time for you and me.
