LSC-leading Rambelles sweep Zias

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Shelbi Goode had 13 kills and Maddie Huth added 11 Saturday as ninth-ranked Angelo State cruised to a 25-17, 25-10, 25-14 Lone Star Conference victory over Eastern New Mexico University.

The Rambelles (22-3, 15-1 LSC) now hold a two-game lead over Tarleton State (20-6, 13-3), which lost at home on Saturday in four games to ninth-ranked West Texas A&M (21-4, 12-3).

ENMU (6-19, 1-14) held a couple of early one-point leads in the opening set, but ASU took the lead for good at 5-4 on a kill by Goode and steadily pulled away.

After the Rambelles led the entire second set, the Zias took an early 3-1 lead in the third before Huth sparked a 7-1 ASU run with two kills and a service ace. ENMU got at close as 13-10, but the Rambelles scored six of the next seven points to all but put it out of reach.

The Zias got 11 kills from junior outside hitter Lindsey Barron and 19 digs from junior libero Hayley Couch.
