ELIDA – The Elida Lady Tigers cruised to a 25-12, 25-19, 25-3 District 2-B volleyball win over San Jon on Saturday.
The two-time defending Class B state champions improved to 15-2 with the victory, and 5-0 in district play.
"We served really well today," Elida coach Darrell Chenault said. "We only missed five serves, and they (Lady Coyotes) had some trouble with serve-receive."
Elida wraps up regular-season play with a district match on Thursday at Grady.
Floyd falls in four at Jal: The Jal Lady Panthers managed to squeeze out the last two games and edged Floyd 23-25, 25-19, 26-24, 28-26 in District 8-1A volleyball on Saturday at Jal.
Sisters Jasmin, Dominique and Monique Gomez had 14, 7 and 4 kills, respectively, for the Lady Broncos (8-8, 1-3 district), and each had three blocks as well. Kassie Rodriguez had eight digs, Delta Navarrete had six digs and five aces, Tabitha Ornelas finished with four aces and 23 assists and Taryn Lee had six digs and two aces.
Addison Deen added two blocks and Shayla Whitecotton had two aces.
The Lady Broncos lost the junior varsity preliminary in two games.
Floyd ends the regular season with district matches at Tatum on Tuesday and at home against Dora on Thursday.
