Letters to the editor: Train station sign not accurate

While visiting in Portales a few days ago, I read the new sign in front of the Post Office about the train station.

It is a very nice sign, but not entirely correct.

It states the depot closed when the final passenger train ran in 1965.

The depot remained open for freight customers until 1988.

In the book "Roosevelt County History and Heritage" printed in 1975, on page 51 it gives a list of the agents with me as the final one, from 1971 to present.

I was the station agent there from 1971 until the station did closed in 1988.

Hurricane sign from God

The timing of Hurricane Sandy with the full moon and the high tide are signs of God.

The devastation that took place on the East Coast goes to show us who is in charge.

I believe the time is rapidly approaching for Jesus Christ to return to the Earth and take the kingdoms of the world for himself.

I believe we are not doing the right things. Things are not getting any better; they are getting worse.

It's time for the Lord himself to descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
