This weekend promises to be an eventful one as I attend my first live hockey game and a high school musical.
I recall in March of last year going to Portales High School to take pictures of a rehearsal for "My Fair Lady."
I remember being struck by the fact that the student playing leading character Henry Higgins captured the arrogant yet nonchalant personality of Higgins very well.
Little did I know that several months later, I would get to know this Portales High student and discover not only is he an actor, but a musician, singer, robotics guru and more.
Well, Bryan Gore has done it again, scoring another leading role in the high school's upcoming performance of "The Music Man." The role is well-earned, because I know few young people who are as talented with and passionate about such a variety of venues.
Not to mention, Portales High is occupied by numerous other talented performers. I look forward to seeing the show this weekend, especially after missing "My Fair Lady," a play which I love, especially the cinematic musical version with Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison.
Good luck, Portales High students and other performers. I know you'll do great, as you always do.
