Letter to the Editor — July 19

Plethora of justifications for our pride in Portales

Our note concerns how very proud we are of Portales.

We had a wonderful Fourth of July celebration. It was maybe the best ever.

There are a lot of other things to be proud of but what makes our town the best around are the people who live here and call this county home.

On July 5, while leaving the bank and trying to get out of the way of oncoming traffic, we backed into the side of another car. We called for a patrolman, and Officer Larry Garrison arrived shortly after and was just as nice and kind as he could be.

He went inside the bank to find the owner of the other car and bring them outside. She was so very nice, even though we had dented her car.

So from that happening to the other stops we made at various Portales businesses, everyone was, as usual, so very nice and asked if we had rain.

What a great place this is to live.

So let’s brag about our town to all around and maybe more nice people will want to call this home.
