Elida wins in five; Floyd bows in tourney

The Elida Lady Tigers were pushed to the limit for the second consecutive match, but prevailed in the end on Thursday night with a 19-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-20, 15-11 win at Hagerman.

Elida won its season opener on Tuesday in five sets over Fort Sumner, also on the road.

The teams split the preliminary matches, with the Lady Bobcats taking the junior varsity clash 25-19, 25-19 and Elida prevailing in the junior high contest 25-14, 25-20.

In the opening round of a tournament at Logan, Floyd opened its season with a four-set loss against the host Lady Longhorns in the quarterfinal round. The Lady Broncos will take on the loser between Melrose and Grady in a consolation semifinal on Saturday.
