Herbert supplies game-winner for Hounds

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Senior midfielder Kal Herbert scored the game’s lone goal midway through the first half and Eastern New Mexico University held on for a 1-0 win over Colorado-Colorado Springs in men’s soccer on Friday.

Herbert, from England, scored unassisted in the 29th minute, putting a shot into the top left corner of the net past Mountain Lions goalkeeper Peter Vogrin. It was one of only two shots on goal in the match for the Greyhounds.

Freshman goalkeeper Severin Niessen of Germany earned the shutout for the Hounds, collecting four saves. ENMU overcame a 15-4 deficit in corner kicks.

The Hounds (2-2) wrap up their weekend trip to Colorado on Sunday with a noon start at Colorado State-Pueblo.
