The Altrusa Club of Portales met on Sept. 23 in the Central Annex. President Linda Leaming called the meeting to order. Wanda Pettus led the opening ceremonies and Cathy Rankin gave the Altrusa Accent.
The minutes from Sept. 9 were approved with one addition: The school supplies and books being collected are for a mission in Nicaragua. There were 21 members present.
Jennifer Hardin drew for the queen of hearts, and Secret Pals were thanked. The fifth Monday social will be on Sept. 30th at the home of Tom & Sharon Davis at 6 p.m.
The next board meeting will be on Oct. 7, and the next regular club meeting will be on Oct. 28.
The Holiday Happening Committee will meet on Sept. 30 at noon at The Print Shop.
Following a brainstorming session on fundraising ideas, Pat Willis moved that having a golf tournament next fall be explored and that Lori Ribble be asked to investigate details and report back to the club. The motion was seconded and it carried.
