HAYS, Kan. — Senior forward Ricardo Yeverino had two goals and an assist on Friday as No. 24 Fort Hays State blanked Eastern New Mexico University 3-0 in men’s soccer.
The loss snapped a seven-match unbeaten streak for the Greyhounds (7-4-2), who have lost twice to the Tigers (7-2-1) this season by the same score.
Yeverino scored his fifth goal of the season on a header with just over 11 minutes left in the half off a deflection by ENMU goalie NiessenSeverin of a shot by Fort Hays’ Jaccob Rangel.
Yeverino made it 2-0 about four minutes into the second half, scoring on a bicycle kick from the right side off a crossing pass by teammate Daniel Peralta. Yeverino then hit the post with a shot about 20 minutes into the half and the deflection caromed to junior forward-midfielder Diego Cabral, who fired it in from the right side for his sixth goal of the season.
Fort Hays outshhot the Hounds 14-9 overall, including 10-3 on goal.
ENMU returns to action on Monday with a 3 p.m. matchup against Southern Nazarene at the ENMU pitch.
